ZooBurs/Kerpooft: The first class I attended today was ZooBurst. It is a digital storytelling tool that lets student's create and share books online. There is an interested augmented reality mode that allows viewers to make motions in front of a webcam to turn pages. I'm excited to give this a try! In Kerpoof, students can collaborate online using chat, message boards, etc.
My Story: This app seems like it would be fun for my 5th grade students. It has drawing, typing, and voice capabilities. It might be useful for creating a summary for a book and picking out important parts of what we are reading in class.
Gone Google Story Builder: This story builder is available on laptops. It was really enjoyable to play with! As a teacher, I think I would have fun using this as an attention getter. My students would have fun brainstorming or having characters interact with each other. The music is essential. It really makes the project come to life.
Layar: This is an app that allows users to view interactive media by scanning QR codes. I think my 5th graders would LOVE it. As a teacher, it feels ambitious but I would love to maybe have an open classroom night where parents can come and view projects the kids have been working on.
Another fun app I learned was Splice. I was taught this by the suggestion of another teacher in the class. It is a presentation app that allows users to easily incorporate pictures, transitions, photos, and music. I can't wait to play around with this and show my kids.
