Last Tuesday was the first day of presentations. I thought everyone did a nice job, and I was surprised that everyone had the same struggles with the unit task that I did. That struggle was that the model does not allow for flexible teaching and impromptu questions. Also, with assemblies, Meet the Masters, and a guest speaker from the Utah Symphony, it was difficult to fit in all my lessons in the time table I had created for myself.
However, the most enlightening part of the class was learning more about the NearPod app. Students use this app to follow a presentation that is being given by the instructor. I loved that students have the ability to draw and answer questions right on the app. The teacher can then display good and bad examples. I think this app has the potential to make teaching really fun. My only concern is that my students don't have iPads! I'd like to give it a try on iPods and see if I experience success. This is something I'd like to work on over Spring Break.
